City kids, join in country fun!

Summer is sunshine, fresh air and family time - away from the bosses and “teachers’ dirty looks” – it’s THE time to hang out with kids – whether it’s your own, your relatives or your grandkids! Pack into the car and get out for a weekend of playtime. Take the kids to see The Music Man. Visit the Costume Warehouse and pretend — for the girls there are gowns, capes, hats with feathers and beaded cloaks — and for the boys, crowns, beards, fake weapons and blood — even a rotting head on a plate!

Starting in early August the Ontario Maze is ready for young and old to get lost or chase around in. Each year Nelly and Ernst Hofer design and plant a truly original corn maze of great ingenuity on 45 acres, making it one of the largest corn mazes in North America. Come at night and roam the alleys and paths in the dark with flashlights.

For those of us living in big cities, summer is the perfect time to get away and connect with sunshine and blue sky — to appreciate what green really means! You are welcomed to farms to see the animals and smell the fresh air. Taste sun-warmed tomatoes or corn picked just minutes ago. Visit McCully’s Hill Farm — see where the food in the grocery store comes from and take a one-hour horse-drawn hay wagon tour of the farm. Then drop by the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame to see the contribution Canada has made to a favourite summer sport.
