Stratford Summer Music

Over 80 jazz, choral, classical operatic concerts by critically renowned international musical artists runs from July 21, 2008 to August 17, 2008. Performers to appeal to every musical taste in the most intimate surroundings – from heritage churches and halls to open barges in the afternoon along the river to after-theatre cabarets and jazz concerts. Be transformed by Measha Brueggergosman in recital and enveloped in transcendent aural environments created by 40 speakers broadcasting 40 celestial voices by the Forty-Part Motet. The unique wit of Bill Richardson will delight with Unsung Dogs of Great Composers. There are heavenly Scottish cathedral choirs and organs in fulsome majesty.

Free concerts abound with Korean drummers, South American flutes and Songs from the War of 1812. You will be pleasantly surprised as you shop the streets or sit in our outdoor patios to be confronted by itinerant musicians – from Car-la-la, a cacophony of car horns, to the hilarious Sunglasses for Ears.

And don’t forget the tribute concert to Stratford’s own Richard Manuel, of The Band and his first group The Revols with Rockin’ Ronnie Hawkins headlining a celebration of his 50 years in the music business on August 4th.
